Weddings + Elopements

// Wild Elopements // Intimate Ceremonies // ALTERNATIVE WEDDINGS // UNIQUE CELEBRATIONS //

Having a couple consider me to document their wedding day is honestly a huge honour and a privilege I never take for granted. Whether it’s a full blown family shindig, an urban micro-wedding or a wild, wonderful (and quite possibly weather beaten) elopement, I will document the intimacy of your special day in a relaxed, candid style. Here you can have a gander at some of my previous work. If you like what you see, get in touch. I'm based in Edinburgh, but will happily travel the world for love (and epic photo ops!)

Relaxed, documentary style

What exactly do I mean when I say documentary style? Well, I mean natural, relaxed and as candid as possible. I aim to capture the events of your day as they unfold, with as little intervention or choreographing as possible. The end result is honest coverage of all the big moments you want to remember, plus some little ones you might have missed!

Genuine moments over perfect posing

Not much of poser? Not a problem. My work is all about capturing real, authentic moments over striking that perfect pose. Sure I'll guide you and direct you to get the best composition, but I'll never ask you to do anything that you're not comfortable with. Let's celebrate you as you are, not pose as something you're not.

All the little details

For me, the secret to emotive wedding coverage is good storytelling. And the key to a great story? Well, it’s all in the details – those tiny, fleeting, imperfect, sometimes messy, but oh-so-authentic little details. Trust me, they’re more significant than you might think.

“A great story teller! Danielle helped us capture our special day with an intimate gathering. She was so accommodating with what we wanted, and really helped capture our happiness on that day. I love looking back at our photos!”

Frequently Asked Questions

What is your booking process?

First up, I encourage you to have a good old rummage around my website and Instagram to get a feel for my style.

I like to chat to my couples before booking so if you like what you see, get in touch and we can either arrange a video call or meet in person if you're local. When you're ready to book, I ask for a 20% deposit to reserve your date, with the remaining fee payable at least 2 weeks before your wedding day.

Of course, I'll be in touch regularly to keep up to date with your plans, and I'll be available if you have any questions before the big day.

Do you travel for weddings?

I'm based in Leith, in north Edinburgh, but I do travel around the country for weddings! I don't charge for travel within 30 miles of my home in Edinburgh (EH6); anything over 30 miles is charged at 50p per mile within the UK. Depending on distance, overnight accommodation may also be required. For weddings that are further afield, just drop me a line and I will be happy to calculate a bespoke quote for you.

How much do you charge for weddings?

Ahhh time for the nitty gritty. My pricing starts at £950 for elopements that don't require coverage for the entire day. More coverage will be (surprise surprise) more expensive. Get in touch and I'll send over my pricing guide and a personalised quote.

What's a second shooter and do I need one?

A "second shooter" or "second photographer" is someone who works alongside the main photographer on your day to photograph different angles, different situations and assist the photographer throughout your wedding day. While you're having couples portraits taken, the second shooter will capture candid shots of your guests mingling for example.

Though not always essential, second shooters can be an amazing addition to your day if you want to capture simultaneous action. The photographer can only be in one place at a time after all! I normally recommend a second shooter for large weddings or for weddings where the couple are getting ready at different locations.

The price is an additional £350 to cover an additional photographer for the day and the extra editing time for me. If you're not too sure about this one I'm happy to advise!

Do you offer wedding and elopement videography?

Abso-bloody-lutely! Documenting your wedding day with video is an incredible way to remember it for years to come! I offer two options for videography: a short, cinematic highlights film showcasing the key moments you want to remember plus some of the wee ones you might have missed; or a full feature-length shebang that covers the full ceremony and speeches. Get in touch for more info.

How many images will you take on our wedding day?

This is totally dependent on the type of wedding I’m shooting, but as a minimum I usually say around 500 for a full day of photography, though it's often more. There's no point in me holding back certain images just to keep the numbers down: If it's a good pic, you're getting it! There will be some that don’t make the cut of course, but you get all the images that I keep and fully edit. Those that don't make the cut will most likely be duplicates, blinkers or blurry (in a non artsy way!)

Do we need to feed you?

If I’m shooting a full day for you then yes please, I would really appreciate that! It’s a long day and there aren’t many opportunities for a rest, so a hot meal while you're all having your dinner is necessary to keep me going. It doesn’t have to be what your guests are eating, but it should be at the same time so that I don’t miss anything.

How will you deliver our photos and/or film?

Your photos will be delivered via your own online gallery. From here you can easily view and download your images, share them with friends and family, order prints, and make any selections should you wish to purchase a wedding album from me.

Films will be delivered in a physical gift box that contains your film on a personalised wooden USB along with a few other goodies (I wouldn't want to spoil the surprise though!)

How long until we can see our photos and/or film?

I usually send 10–15 preview images within a few days of your wedding, with your fully edited gallery following within 8–12 weeks. If you've booked me for videography, I aim to send you your fully edited film within 12 weeks of your wedding day.
