Little Soaad was a little early.

In fact, it was only the day after her mum's maternity shoot that she decided she was ready to come join the party. Talk about cutting it fine! I'm so glad we managed to squeeze that maternity session in when we did.

Just over three weeks later and here she is, a beautiful wee baby bundle of newborn perfection. Welcome to the world little one.

It was such a joy to capture these photos for Muhanad and Sarah, both of whom seem to have well and truly settled into their new roles as parents. What a privilege to be welcomed into their new home and to be trusted with documenting this precious time in their lives.

As with all my sessions, this newborn photography session was super relaxed. I don't swaddle or pose little ones in any way, nor do I use props. I believe newborns are perfect exactly as they are, so that's how I work.

Sure I might direct you towards the light or encourage good composition, but I always aim to document the beauty of your new family as it is, rather than trying to make it something that it's not. Sleeping, feeding, changing, a few tears and lots of cuddles. It's all par for the course.

The result? Relaxed, natural images that are authentic to you and your family. Photos that contain actual genuine emotion. Photos that you can look back on in years to come and be reminded of this special yet fleeting time in your life.

Baba Andy was also on hand to help out, and to crack out a few hilarious (grand) dad jokes too, of course.

Proud new dad Muhanad kept energy levels high with some sugary sweets and seriously strong Syrian coffee. If you're a caffeine fiend like me I highly recommend giving it a try. Brewing it with cardamom made it all the more flavourful – thanks Muhanad!
